Boost To Fiji Real Estate Improvements Possible

Relaxed Reserve Bank of Fiji policies on real estate-related borrowing by overseas investors could result in upgrading to properties, the on-line news service Fiji Live reports.

Under the new RBF policy announced last week, non-resident individuals can now borrow locally up to 60 per cent to build new residences. Non-resident individuals can also borrow locally up to $100,000 for maintenance and repairs of properties, Fiji Live reports.

"Prices would only increase if non residents are allowed to borrow locally to fund residential purchase. Places such as Denarau may see some improvements in value, but this could be minimal," Khatri told Fiji Live.
